J. Christopher Pardini, BM, MM, SPC

Christopher Pardini is a faculty member in music at Saint Vincent College, where he teaches organ, piano, sacred music and music theory, directs the College Concert Series and is developing a post-baccalaureate certificate program in sacred music. Director of music and liturgy at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg, he has a Bachelor of Music degree in sacred music from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey, and a Master of Music degree in organ performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester, New York. A nationally-recognized specialist in Sacred Music, he is also a published composer of award-winning music.

Music and Prayer: Sacred Music as a Pathway to Peace

This afternoon retreat will provide a time of contemplation where we will deepen our spiritual connection through the power of sacred music as prayer. Inviting a profound sense of peace, this retreat will center around the transformative role of music in the Catholic liturgical tradition and its ability to open the heart to God’s presence. Participants will hear live performances of two monuments of liturgical organ repertoire: the Mass for the Parishes by François Couperin, and the Clavierübung III (known as the “German Organ Mass”) by Johann Sebastian Bach.
